No matter where our love lives take us, we always know we’ll be okay thanks to the likes of Molly Ringwald, Julia Roberts, Meg Ryan, Renée Zellweger, and a little movie genre called romantic comedies, or rom-coms.

Fallen in love with a guy online? There’s a movie for that. Cheated on by your boyfriend (who’s also your boss), slid down a fire pole flashing your knickers and fell in love with a guy in a reindeer jumper? There’s a movie for that too. Whichever right or wrong turn our hearts take us, it’s comforting to know there are romantic comedies to help us figure out what we want, don’t want, need and don’t need from our relationships. And when all else fails, they make us laugh.

We’re rounding up our favourite romantic comedies perfect for watching this Valentine’s Day. So roundup your besties, grab a bowl of ice cream and let the rom-com marathon begin!

1. Notting Hill
Why we love it: We fall in love with Hugh Grant’s sweet and somewhat awkward character over and over again, and his hilarious (and a tad repulsive) roommate never fails to make us laugh. Better yet, it’s on Slice this Valentine’s Day! Catch it on Friday, February 14 at 10:30pm EST.

2. When Harry Met Sally
Why we love it: Simply put, we’re addicted for it’s memorable and totally true lines like our absolute favourite, “when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.”

3. Bridget Jones’ Diary
Why we love it:From the ways she tries to get Daniel Cleaver’s attention (karaoke and mini skirts, anyone?) to her not-so-good cooking of blue soup, omelets and marmalade, we feel like there’s a little Bridget Jones in all of us.

4. Sixteen Candles
Why we love it: Jake Ryan. ‘Nuff said.

5. Jerry Maguire
Why we love it: From “who’s coming with me?” to “you had me at hello,” Jerry Maguire is one of those movies that’s so iconic, we’re still quoting it 18 years later.

6. You’ve Got Mail
Why we love it: For anyone who’s ever questioned the romance and excitement behind online dating, this one’s for you. Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks prove that meeting someone online still makes one heck of a great story.

7. Pretty Woman
Why we love it: It’s every woman’s dream: a caring, good-looking knight in shining Armani armor falls in love with you and takes you shopping on Rodeo Drive. From Julia Robert’s endearing singing of Kiss by Prince in the bathtub, to the Richard hanging out of the limo holding a bouquet of roses and calling Vivian’s name, this classic never fails to make us smile… fine, and tear up like crazy.

8. Sleepless in Seattle
Why we love it: We all like to think fate brings us together, and this fairytale starring one of our all-time favourite rom-com duos keeps us believing.
