Well, party’s over. Now that the fete-filled season is officially behind us, it’s time to start fulfilling those dreaded resolutions of ours. But our 2015 goals don’t have to just be about quitting everything fun in our lives. With our new diet plan picked and fitness program sorted, we can concentrate on the most fun resolution of all: Upping our style game.

We’re highlighting 10 changes, improvements and little tweaks to make to your wardrobe to give it the full 2015 treatment. From (finally) taking a break from those skinny jeans to tucking away those short statement necklaces for good, these simple style tips will ensure you maintain your cool-girl style status this year.

Scroll down for the ten style resolutions you should make this year.

1. Invest in Classics
Although we can all appreciate a good deal, when it comes to the pieces you reach for time and time again, it’s better to choose quality over cost. Paying a little more for the pieces you wear most – a classic peacoat, pencil skirt, blazer and sweater – will end up saving you money in the long run as they’ll last that much longer than their cheaper counterparts.

Shop Investment Pieces
The first place to start? An impeccably structured coat that goes with just about everything. Try J.Crew’s Double-Cloth Lady Day Coat with Thinsulate (US $432).

2. Bid the Skinnies Adieu
For the past decade, skinny jeans have dominated our denim lineup, but 2015 is all about the more relaxed silhouette. If you haven’t hopped on the boyfriend jean trend yet, there’s really no escaping it this year. These comfy bottoms will up your cool factor with any casual weekend look with sneakers, or date night looks with pointy pumps.

Shop the Boyfriend Jean
Transition slowly into the looser silhouette by opting for a more straight-leg style, like Citizens of Humanity’s Corey Bourbon (was $298, now $225) from Aritzia.

3. High Tops
One of our favourite trends of 2014 (and the one we’ve been ever-so-thankful for) has to be sneakers. Though we’re still fans of our little Converse and New Balance steppers, the new year is all about chunkier high tops – a much better option for these chilly temps, anyway.

Shop High Tops
For a fun pair that’s bound to fit in to your wardrobe, go for Supra’s Black Leather Skytop Sneaker ($100) from Urban Outfitters.

Christian Dior : Outside Arrivals - Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2015
4. The It Handbag
2015 is all about the return of the It handbag – we’ve missed it! If you’re going to make one great investment this year (aside from your educational needs, retirement plans or other highly beneficial places to throw your cash) go for one fabulous bag that you can wear every day, with every outfit, to every place.

Shop the It Bag
For a classic style that seems to remain it’s It-bag status year after year, go for Saint Laurent’s Ligne Classique Y Leather Tote ($2650).

Chanel: Runway - Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2014-2015
5. Statement Necklaces
We know, we know, you finally have a perfectly curated collection of statement necklaces– but the trend is a little tired. This season, opt for longer styles, like the padlock charms seen at Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Moschino, and Coach.

Shop the Padlock Necklace
Get your version of Chanel’s padlock necklace with Rebecca Minkoff’s Long Locked Charm Necklace ($83).

6. Mismatched Earrings
Last year brought along the lone lobes, where actresses, models and editors were seen spotting a single earring, but this year? It’s all about donning a mismatched pair. Talk about a statement.

Shop Mismatched Earrings
For a subtle approach to the trend, try Kate Spade’s Kiss A Prince Infinity Studs ($48) and Emerald Cut Studs ($38).

FX's "The Bridge" Season 2 Premiere
7. Simple and Strappy
Chunky shoes can easily add a fun edge to an outfit, but like last year, the simple, strappy and elegant styles seem to be here to stay.

Shop Ladylike Shoes
For a winter-approved option, try Club Monaco’s Lula Calf Hair T-Strap Pumps ($269).

Louis Vuitton : Outside Arrivals - Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Spring/Summer 2015
8. Non-Black Accessories
For years, black has been the go-to colour for handbags, shoes, sunnies, and everything in between. But now, we’re seeing more and more women opt for fun, bolder options that they pair with both neutral outfits as well as clashing bright separates.

Shop the Non-Black Accessories
Not much of a risk-taker when it comes to your staples? No problem. Simply switch your black accessories out for brown options, guaranteed to go well with your on- and off-duty wardrobes. Try Madewell’s The Glasgow Satchel ($198).

8. The Smart Watch
With the upcoming release of the Apple Watch, if your timepiece isn’t able to phone your friends and isn’t compatible with Candy Crush, it simply just won’t make the cut.

10. Seasonless Fashion
Seasonless fashion has been around for awhile, but 2015’s the time to embrace it. Bring out those favourite summer frocks of yours, team them with opague tights and a glitzy clutch, and you’ve got a total winter-ready look.

Shop Seasonless Dressing

We’re loving Ted Baker’s Milana Dress ($360) which can easily be worn now with tights and a blazer, and during the hotter months with strappy shoes and a bright bag.
