Weddings are great. We get to celebrate the love between two people, slip on something fancy, dance a little, eat a lot, and indulge in a glass of champagne or two.
As wonderful as weddings are, there are some serious side effects. Firstly, they can remind you that you are nowhere near that stage in your life; secondly, they can wreak havoc on your bank account and lastly, did we mention the champagne?
We may not be able to solve your relationship woes and we certainly don’t have a hangover cure down pat, but when it comes to saving your dough, we’ve got you covered. To make it through wedding season, you’re probably going to need a new dress or two. And for that, we’ve rounded up 20 chic dresses you can wear again and again (plus, they’re all under $100).
In Black and White
Coming in a minimalist silhouette with a modern print, Zara’s Mid-length Tailored Dress ($40) is a cool and elegant option for any wedding. How we’d rock it? With simple heels and a golden clutch.
Deep jewel tones are pretty much universally flattering colours, as is the style of Tart’sMarine Gathered Stretch-Modal Mini Dress (was US $200, now US $80). We love this easy-to-wear dress teamed with a standout clutch and strappy heels.
Strapless, figure-hugging and cheery, ASOS’s Shard Flower Bandeau Dress ($80) is equal parts sexy, feminine and classy. Make it appropriate for just about any wedding with a simple change of accessories.
Elegant, romantic and whimsical, Zara’s Long Dress with Appliqué Neckline ($80) couldn’t be more perfect for a wedding. Team this Grecian-style dress with neutral accessories and messy waves for the sweetest look.
For a sweet and feminine option, go for W118 By Walter Baker’s Adele Floral-Print Cady Dress (was US $168, now US $76). Keep your jewellery to a minimum, and instead, accessorize with a bold lip.
The Ladylike Pick
Featuring feminine lace, a cinched waist and a classic navy hue, ASOS’s Oasis V Neck Lace Shift Dress ($95) is a flattering pick for any wedding. Team it with nude heels and a pair of statement earrings.
Fun and Flirty
Flirty, feminine and fun, Forever 21’s Striped A-Line Dress ($34) is a sweet dress that doesn’t require extravagant accessories. Keep it simple with neutral shoes and hair au naturel.
Go the graphic route in a colour-blocked shift, like Gap’s Printed Twist-Back Dress ($76). We say, wear your hair in a sleek half-up, half-down ‘do, and pair it with some edgy earrings.
The Minimalist Midi
When in doubt, just go for the LBD. But Joe Fresh‘s Tank Dress ($29) is anything but ordinary. Boasting a relaxed silhouette and cinched waist, this stunning dress will be a safe bet for just about any venue you may find yourself at.
Piece of Art
A pink, blue and purple watercolour print lends H&M’s classic sheath, Sleeveless Dress ($40) a fun yet sophisticated hand. Team it with black shoes, black bag and a super sleek ‘do.
Under the Sun
Step into the quintessential summer dress, with Vince Camuto’s Floral Halter Fit and Flare Dress ($99). Add an edgy element to the look by teaming it with black accessories.
The Scuba LBD
Looking for a chic LBD? Abercrombie’s Scuba Skater Dress ($64) is a fun, classic and cost-effective option.
In a gorgeous French-inspired print and feminine fit-and-flare silhouette, Topshop’s Midi Printed Skater Dress by Blamorous (£52) has stolen our hearts. We love it teamed with a pair of tomato-coloured pumps and wavy locks.
The Easy Shift
If you can only buy one dress this season, make a versatile shift, like Joe Fresh’s Floral Shift Dress ($29). This little number can easily be dressed up for fancy weddings with strappy heels and a sleek clutch, or dressed down with flats for casual affairs.
Mint to Be
With a sweetheart neckline, icy mint hue and form-hugging silhouette, Topshop’s Halo Midi Dress by TFNC (£42) is sure to be a standout option for any wedding. Team it with a pair of sleek black heels and a back-bearing updo.
Go the classic route with a mini floral dress, like this Floral Cutout Dress from Abercrombie ($46). We love this number paired with a low, messy bun and a pair of killer wedges.
Back to the ’90s
Relive the ’90s in the chicest way possible with DEX’s Printed Maxi Dress ($59). We love this romantic pick paired with long, dainty necklaces and simple heels.
Go for a sorbet hue in a failproof silhouette with Aritzia’s Talula Kanda Dress ($50). Team it with black heels and a thin black belt for a sweet yet edgy way to rock the look.
Looking to step away from the norm? Go for H&M’s Dress in a Silk Blend ($80). With an asymmetrical hemline and abstract print, it’s an elegant and unexpected pick that can be easily dressed up or down.
Whether teamed with an updo and strappy pumps for a formal wedding, or beachy waves and gladiator sandals for a beachfront ceremony, Forever 21’s Tropical V-Cut Maxi Dress ($30) is a cool and effortless way to go.
