Although we consider ourselves adventurous when it comes to things like the ambitious style choices we make and questionable food trucks we try, there are certain times when the risks are too inconvenient to take the chance. Like nail polish, for example. We tend to opt for the safe route and stick to shades of reds and purples to save us from the potential hardship of a rushed polish change for a shade that better goes with a given OOTD.
But, as the inspirational quotes on our Instagram feed inform us, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” So, it’s time to accept the fact that your polish might not always go with what you’re wearing, and it’s okay. In fact, the right shade can lend an unexpected element to your otherwise basic look.
And so, we’re highlighting five new designer nail polish shades that are cool, chic and seriously different from any other colour you’ve ever worn. Give them a whirl, because after all, “Coffee, first.” Or rather, “Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all”.
#1: Christian Louboutin’s Sapphire Blue
Brighter than your denim blue but more sophisticated than your typical tutti fruiti lacquer shades, Christian Louboutin’s ‘The Pops’ Nail Colour in “Wherever” is a sapphire blue option that works well from the office to daytime raves. Its formula was created without toluene, formaldehyde or DBP, and it features a patented triangular brush inspired by calligraphy tools to deliver smooth, flawless and chip-resistant coverage. Opt for one coat of “Wherever” for a luxe, glossy finish, or two coats for a bolder, brighter alternative.

#2: Dolce & Gabbana’s Evergreen
If a sophisticated shade of nail polish is what you’re after, a deep colour is the way to go. Dolce & Gabbana’s The Nail Lacquer in 725 Wild Green is a rich evergreen shade we’re loving. The bottle features a brush created by a manufacturer of artistry paintbrushes to offer the perfect applicator for smooth and effortless coverage without streaking.

#4: Burberry’s Daffodil Yellow
Burberry’s Nail Polish in No. 416 Daffodil is a sunshiny hue that works well year-round. Whether teamed with your printed numbers in the summer or your minimalist black picks in the winter, this soft yellow offers a cheerful touch to your look. As for the formula, it contains strengthening and moisturizing benefits and delivers a high-gloss, quick-drying with finish. We mean, seriously quick. It will dry in under two minutes, and completely harden in six.
