The Style Tips From Breakfast at Tiffany’s You’ve Ignored, But Shouldn’t

Posters of Holly Golightly hang on our walls, memes of her and Fred are peppered throughout our Insta-feeds, and a few of us may even have an orange cat named Cat. So, why do we share this great admiration for “that daring, darling Holly Golightly” (as my particular movie poster states)? She’s basically all of us. She’s as stylish as she is gullible, as charming as she is lost, and the owner of probably the most classic and totally effortless wardrobe, ever.

Holly has already inspired us to add a traditional trench, plenty of LBDs, and a dramatic pair of cat-eye sunnies to our style repertoire, but in the process, we overlooked the other chic pieces she dons that deserve just as much attention.

In honour of Breakfast At Tiffany‘s 55th anniversary, we’re taking a look at four more timeless pieces that Audrey Hepburn wore as Holly Golightly. From an easy sleepwear option to a sweater in a fresh silhouette, flip through the slideshow for the soon-to-be MVPs of your quintessential wardrobe.

  1. One of the sexiest pieces a girl can own is an oversized button-down shirt. Make this your sleepwear option of choice, or pair it with jeans to make it street-appropriate.

Try: Madewell Drapey Oversized Boyshirt in Pure White, $101

  1. Forget the LBD—a little pink dress is the unforgettable option. For the best (read: most Holly-approved) way to rock it, team it with a matching pink coat and pair of heels.

Try: Halston Heritage Flared Cotton and Silk-Blend Dress, $445

  1. Ensure you don’t blend into the bustling city commute by choosing a winter coat in an all-eyes-on-me hue. Ditch your basic black topper for one in a bright tomato shade, and consider investing in a fab fur hat.

Try: Zara Coat With Pockets, $179

  1. Boxy knits make for equally chic and warm fall dressing. Take a break from your slouchy sweaters and opt for one in a more structured silhouette. Team it with a pair of skinnies for a fail-proof look.

Try: Everlane The Ribbed Wool-Cashmere Turtleneck, US $120
